Beauhurst | B2B data platform

I lead on end-to-end design at Beauhurst - a data platform allowing users to discover, understand and monitor private companies, investments, and economies.

As a collaborative partner in the product development process, design brings clarity to complex problems spanning a wide range of industries, use cases, and individual or interconnected datasets including growth signals, financials, people and structures. Through design thinking we enable users to leverage this powerful data in their goal-driven decision-making.

Mobile ways of working with Microsoft Teams

It became crucial to establish and embed mobile ways of working when in-person sharing of information was made unfeasible for key workers during COVID-19.

Leading on our first-of-its-kind collaboration, I worked with Microsoft to implement custom functionality on Microsoft Teams using a design-led approach to optimise the platform for key workers and facilitate modern, mobile ways of working for team members whose roles involved moving between locations on site.

By improving the flexibility of rolling forecast reporting beyond what off-the-shelf packages could offer, we aimed to make forecasting a more valuable process for our client. Through this they could make better use of data to inform business decisions, leveraging their financial reporting insights and realising value opportunities sooner.

Using an insight-driven approach to design, we defined the level of flexibility in data visualisation capabilities based on an understanding of which data was necessary and important to both the business and users.

Improving outcomes on an Intensive Care Unit with digitalisation

Improving outcomes on an Intensive Care

Unit with digitalisation

To improve flow and patient safety on an Intensive Care Unit (ICU), I worked on a project which made real-time overviews of key quality indicators accessible to staff, empowering them to provide efficient care.

We made design decisions to improve the dashboard based on an understanding that this interface, and healthcare interfaces generally, should account for the fast-paced, dynamic context of an ICU and aim to enhance co-ordination of activity on the ward.

🎨 Illustration and life drawing

My initial love for visual art took the form of photorealistic drawing. When this began to feel constraining rather than freeing, illustration and life drawing helped me to express my creativity while breaking through the barriers of perfection.

As a designer, I believe there is magic to be made at the sweet spot between logical reasoning and boundless creativity. Outcomes can only be achieved through a thorough understanding of the problem space synthesised through design, whilst innovation is born through the ability to tap into a blank slate.

🧘🏽‍♀️ On my bedside table

I am heavily inspired by places. Behaviour emerges as a result of experience - be that experience of a system or an environment.

An appreciation for interiors and their effect on behaviours was where my journey into design began. I learned how to apply principles of human-centred design thinking to physical environments before venturing into the digital world of design.

You’ll usually find me far from bed exploring environments that inspire me, but CEREAL and WIRED are on my digital bedside table,
